AaRuS – The Beginning
AaRuS is not just an institution — it’s an idea, a drive, a passion, and commitment of four lifelong friends who have always aspired to see a paradigm-shift in the way healthcare is provided in Nepal, wherein the centre of focus is the patient, their lifestyle, and their well-being.
The idea of AaRuS was conceived in 2006 in Russia, when Dr. Santosh Shakya, Dr. Amit Shakya, Dr. Rupak Narayan Bhari, and Dr. Asim Shakya took inspiration from the multi-specialty hospitals in Russia and Thailand and dreamt of bringing something similar in our own country.
In April 27, 2008 (Baisakh 14, 2065 B.S.), on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, Diabetes Thyroid & Endocrinology Care Centre (DTECC) was established, as an embodiment of this very dream. Incepted as the first-of-its-kind multi-specialty polyclinic, who introduced the corporate healthcare system in Nepal’s health sector to revolutionize and blaze the trail for many modern corporate health institutions of today. The institution soon became one of Nepal’s most reputable institutions for providing expert care and laser-focus solutions for people with diabetes, thyroid as well as endocrinological issues. DTECC still continues to be the first-choice of many who want personalized healthcare, state-of-the-art infrastructures, and proven health expertise.
However, DTECC answered diabetes, thyroid and endocrine-related problems. The aspiration of having an institute that could treat the overall lifestyle-related health issues of people was still a far-fetched dream.
Enter AaRuS Lifestyle Hospital.

DTECC eventually evolved into AaRuS. As the Nepali meaning of its name suggests, AaRuS arrived as the “first ray of sun” in trying to change the entire ecosystem of how healthcare is served in Nepal. AaRuS not just introduced a holistic approach to the healthcare system but also stood as a symbol of quality and affordable healthcare at a quick turnover of recovery. With its prime motto of “My Life, My Health, My Hospital, My Choice,” AaRuS truly is a lifestyle hospital with a difference, as it endeavors to put patients at the center and allow them to decide and choose what healthcare services they want, where they want it.
